WEFOUNDThree Little Pigs A Play FTV

We used things from around the house to do some hands on learning all based on the fairy tale, The Three Little Pigs-affiliate link . To complete our activity I made some printable activities that include fun activities for sequencing, pre-writing, stick puppets to retell the story, and a page to color and design your own house to keep the big bad wolf out.

This activity took a few trials and errors for us to get it right. Now that we finally did, I am excited to share it with you. It was really fun waiting in anticipation for the building materials to break. They would make a big crunching sound that would make my daughter giggle with glee. I thought about trying to blow things over like the big bad wolf, but I think smashing was much more fun while examining the effects of durability, weight, and pressure.

This activity is part of the Creative Preschooler Fairy Tale bi-weekly theme. For more fun ideas, make sure to check out the rest of the ideas at the bottom of this post and in case you missed it, our Creative Preschool themes have also included  Shapes ,  Science Experiments ,  Learn About Food ,  Fine Motor Skill s,  Hair & Body ,  Ocean , and  Maps/Geography .

Misery follows successful romance novelist Paul Sheldon, who is rescued from a car crash by his “Number One Fan,” Annie Wilkes, and wakes up captive in her secluded home. While Paul is convalescing, Annie reads the manuscript to his newest novel and becomes enraged when she discovers the author has killed off her favorite character, Misery Chastain. Annie forces Paul to write a new “Misery” novel, and he quickly realizes Annie has no intention of letting him go anywhere. The irate Annie has Paul writing as if his life depends on it, and it does.

This sweeping musical portrait of early twentieth-century America tells the story of three families in the pursuit of the American Dream.

Another favorite fairy tale that goes along with the farm unit is The Three Little Pigs.  I loved acting this story out so much that we included it in our end of the year program.  My husband cut out 3 house shapes from masonite, and some parents helped me decorate them to be the straw house, the stick house and the brick house.  They were large but light weight and the children could easily carry them and hold them.  They had a cut out window for the children to peek through.

I love the props for the three little pigs. I’m going to make the house fronts. How do you keep them standing? It looks like they are held against something? Thanks so much. Janet K.

I’ve looked long and hard for these sequencing pictures for many years. I used them for Little Red Hen, and many other children’s stories years ago when I first started teaching and loved them but haven’t been able to find them again for years. Thanks so much for providing these!
